Diego Latruwe

My work deals with escapism and enterntainment and the themes of fictionalisation and desire, transcendence and (the loss of) control that are connected with it.

In my video's and installations I adress our common desire for love, status, beauty and value through the redeployment of found footage and objects, mostly originating from pop, games and internetculture. My work often takes the shape of the products of this culture ush as videoclips, gifs, screensavers etc. With these elements I create visual systems that deal with our expectations of ourselves and ourselves and the world, what we thank we know and what we choose to believe in, and how we express ourselves within our own fictions.
