NUCLEO is making space available as an art showcase in one of its studio buildings. A research and presentation venue for artists, where the content of their work and practical technical processes can be viewed and where their art can be given a public presentation.
A neutral place where artists can work temporarily to install whatever content they wish. NUCLEO residents can use the space for try-outs, experiments, test set-ups and exhibitions with or without public admission.
From March 2015 until July 2016, BLANCO was located in the studio building 'Paddenhoek'. In March 2016 the old Veterinary school became
BLANCO as a DOK resident
2015 > 2019
For five summer seasons BLANCO settled as a resident at DOK (a temporary zone for recreation and creative manoeuvres’ at the old docks in Ghent). During the season, BLANCO invited one artist/month to start a dialogue with the place, its residents and visitors during a residency of one month.
The artists were given three large windows at the quay as a physical starting point, ... from where they began their work period.
On an irregular basis, BLANCO selects the Featured Artist in Subbacultcha! Belgium magazine.
BLANCO browses through sketchbooks of artists.
Every two weeks BLANCO gets to fill an empty piece of the well-known printed cultural agenda WeekUp. BLANCO is looking for ideas, the unfinished... in often hidden and unseen sketchbooks of artists.
BLANCO is the name under which the Ghent studio organisation NUCLEO is developing its showcase activities. BLANCO provides a view of the work of NUCLEO’s resident artists, offering room for experimentation, reflection and presentation.
BLANCO opened a research and presentation venue in one of NUCLEO’s studio buildings in March 2015, and is also taking a number of projects outside its own buildings. In this way the organization stimulates its artists to use their work to enter into dialogue with the world beyond the studio.
